CDS Business Mapping, LLC, a leader in online hazard mapping, today announced its list of the top 10 tornado-prone metro-areas. This list is based on the RiskMeter Online's Tornado Model, which predicts the severity of tornadoes for any location in the continental United States. According to a report just released by RiskMeter Online, the following top 10 tornado-prone metro-areas are as follows:

    1.) Denver, CO*
    2.) Houston, TX
    3.) Miami, FL
    4.) Hollywood, FL
    5.) Tampa, FL
    6.) Lincoln, IL
    7.) Lakeland, FL
    8.) Little Rock, AR
    9.) Cape Coral, FL
    10.) Oklahoma City, OK
*Not downtown, but a rural area to the northeast.

Tornado exposure has and will always be a consistent threat to insurers. According to the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in an average year the U.S. experiences 1,200 tornadoes, which kills 55 Americans, injures 1,500 and causes more than $400 million in damage.
