Is it legal for my homeowners insurance company to cancel the part of my insurance policy that covers any damage that might happen from or due to a hurricane? I live in Florida and have never made a claim to them.
Jeb, Florida
Dear Jeb,
I called the Florida Department of Insurance and they basically said that your insurance company shouldn't be doing that. They'd like you to call the department directly so they can speak with you. The toll-free phone number is (800) 342-2762.
