Farmers denied my application for homeowners insurance, because they checked my insurance history and said I had made a claim. Actually, I never made any claim, that was an error. How can I clear my insurance history and how do I get insurance for my house?
Hoa, Nevada
Dear Hoa,
The key to clearing your record is to deal directly with Farmers' information providers. You'll find the information and contacts you'll need from taking a look at our story on See what your insurance company sees: A guide to obtaining your own reports. After you clean up the misunderstanding about your claim history, you should be able to get the coverage you want.
If you find that you are still having trouble getting homeowners insurance, I suggest you consider contacting an independent insurance agent who can search for a policy for you. You'll find contact information at Independent Insurance Agents of America Inc. Your state department of insurance may also be able to direct you towards some suitable insurance options. You can contact them at the Nevada Department of Insurance.
