Does my homeowners policy provide liability coverage and/or clean-up coverage for a leaking underground storage tank? Is there any specialized coverage for homeowners that provides coverage for environmental incidents?

Dear Lance,

You should check the language of your homeowners insurance policy to see if there's any mention of environmental coverage. Normally, homeowners covers "sudden and accidental" damage to your abode, so a leaking tank wouldn't fall under that protection.
