Are there any property/casualty insurance companies with a particularly good reputation for serving the gay and lesbian communities' home, auto, and personal inland marine needs? My interest is not limited to just one state.
Bob, Massachussetts
Dear Bob,
According to the Partners Task Force for Gay and Lesbian Couples, the following homeowners' insurance companies offer same-sex couples the same discounts as married opposite-sex couples receive: Allstate, Hartford, IDS/Amex, and Nationwide. Car insurance companies offering similar deals include Commerce, Hartford, Metropolitan, and Travelers. The task force's site also presents facts on other types of insurance and how to obtain them. To investigate, visit Partners Task Force for Gay and Lesbian Couples' Table of Contents, locate the search engine, and enter the word "insurance" (or anything else you'd like to know about).
The Gay Financial Network offers members access to its database, which includes useful information and articles on insurance in a little more detail. It takes about two seconds to join. Once a member, simply enter "home insurance" into the search engine.
