Reducing interior damage
CABINETS
Install positive catching latches. Many variations are available at hardware stores.
TALL FURNITURE
Install metal "L" brackets between furniture and the wall stud at the top and bottom. (The "L" bracket can be installed upside down so that it will be hidden from view.)
OPEN SHELVES
Install a guard across the shelf, or install wood trim on the front of the shelf. Place heavy objects on lower shelves.
HANGING PICTURES AND MIRRORS
Screw hooks into wood members only (stud or ceiling joints). Close the hooks used for hanging pictures and mirrors to prevent the objects from falling.
