Ask the Car Insurance Expert
My wife is disabled and cannot drive but my insurance agent told me it is cheaper to keep her on the policy than to take her off. Why is this? I will be the only driver in my vehicles.
Your wife probably lowers your overall car insurance bill because she’s seen – for whatever reason – as a better “risk” by the insurer. If you’re the only driver on the policy you’ll up the cost as a “riskier” driver.
It’s nice that the agent is willing to do that for you, although I don’t know if the insurer would be too happy about it.
