| About American Family Insurance
American Family's history dates back to 1927, when
Herman Witter opened the door of Farmer Mutual Insurance
Company. Targeting farmers, auto insurance was the
only product offered at this time. Over the years, Farmers Mutual
broadened its market and product line to better fit the changing needs
of its customers. In 1963, the company changed its name to
American Family to reflect this expansion. Today, American Family
Insurance is serving customers nationwide in areas of auto, home,
health, life and business.
