About InsureMe
InsureMe is a free online service that helps people find the most competitive insurance rates available. Since 1993, it's helped millions of consumers save money, time and effort on insurance.
InsureMe is the creation of visionary insurance agent Tim McTavish. He believed it should be easier for consumers to find the right insurance. McTavish started the company with a microprocessor and a monochrome monitor in his condo in the Denver suburbs.
Fourteen years and an information revolution later, InsureMe has become a popular online resource for insurance shoppers. The company now employs 70 individuals and has since moved out of Tim's condo. InsureMe's mission has remained constant: Helping people find the right insurance.
InsureMe Life Insurance Says
Through its partnerships, InsureMe offers a variety of life insurance options. The company offers four basic types of life insurance:
- Term life -- least expensive and most common form of life insurance. It does not build cash value and usually pays out in a lump sum. It stays in effect for a fixed period of time, usually a set number of years.
- Whole life -- more expensive but it remains in force for the insured's whole life and requires (in most cases) premiums to be paid every year into the policy. Builds cash value on a tax-deferred basis, but withdrawals from this value decrease death benefits.
- Universal life -- features adjustable benefits and flexible premiums. Payments accumulate and earn interest (which can occasionally be used to pay premiums if the client finds himself financially stretched). Accumulates cash value that can be withdrawn or borrowed against at any time. Rates are subject to change, but will never fall below the minimum rate guaranteed in the policy.
- Variable life -- ties the life insurance policy to financial market performance. The client decides how to invest earnings, with the opportunity to accumulate cash value more rapidly, albeit at additional risk. The client may borrow against or withdraw cash value at any time.
