Founded in 1882, the Knights of Columbus is now the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. The organization has more than 1.7 million members in 14,000 councils where it provides voluntary services to the Catholic church and communities worldwide.
The Order's insurance program, Knights of Columbus insurance, has been "Making a Difference for Life" since the founding of the organization. For the past 120 years, the primary mission of the Knights of Columbus insurance organization has been to protect families against the financial instability caused by the death of the breadwinner. Today, the organization also helps families secure their financial future with life insurance, long-term care insurance and annuity products.
In the 2007 fraternal year, the Order gave $144,911,781 directly to charity ($1.1 billion in charitable contributions in the last 10 years) and performed over 68,695,768 man hours of voluntary service. For its support of the Church and local communities, as well as for their philanthropic efforts, the Order often refers to itself as the "strong right arm of the Church" .The Order's insurance program has more than $60 billion of life insurance policies in force.
Knights of Columbus Health Insurance Says
Knights of Columbus offers long-term care insurance to its policyholders as a health insurance option. Long-term care insurance is intended to help individuals plan for the future and provide benefits in the event of a long-term illness or injury. It covers care for an extended period of time at home, in an assisted living facility or at a nursing home, depending on the amount of coverage purchased.
