Formed in 1913 by factory owners who wanted to purchase
insurance from a reliable, local safety-oriented carrier, NJM writes
coverage directly for consumers without the expense of agents'
commissions, and operates in a mutual fashion exclusively for
policyholders. The financial benefits of prudent stewardship of
policyholder money is returned to customers in the form of dividends.
More than $4.7 billion has been paid to policyholders in dividends
since 1918.

NJM offers auto insurance designed to help
financially cover potential auto-related damages, loss or injuries. It
helps protect the driver, passengers, fellow drivers, pedestrians, and
other people's property. It can also help protect the insured in the
event of an automobile-related lawsuit.
NJM is the largest company providing personal auto insurance in New
Jersey with more than 730,000 vehicles insured. NJM is also among the
largest voluntary writers of commercial auto insurance in New Jersey,
with $62.3 million in written premiums in 2008.
