State Farm's mobile site was ranked best among insurance and financial services competitors by Key Lime Interactive, an independent company specializing in user testing and experience.
The company's evaluation compared State Farm's mobile site and main application, Pocket Agent, against similar offerings. The mobile site missed a perfect capabilities score by two points.
Pocket Agent's "After an Accident" and "My Insurance Card" were singled out as best-in-class features. The accident feature gives users the ability to draw the scene of an accident and to submit a car insurance claim directly from a mobile device. The insurance card feature has the ability to show the actual amount of coverage on a customer's policy.
"State Farm is the leader in mobile financial services capabilities and we're working hard to maintain that position," Patty Gaumond, assistant vice president of Enterprise Internet Solutions at State Farm, said in a statement. "This ranking acknowledges our focused effort to design the best user experience for our customers."
Gaumond said the company is evaluating technologies to make Pocket Agent easier to use, based on customer feedback. Besides Pocket Agent, State Farm's mobile apps include Steer Clear Mobile for both the iPhone and Android, MoveTools for the iPad and Driver Feedback for the iPhone.
