A new report by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) reveals some interesting facts about the insurance industry in the United States.
Highlights of the study – the first volume of the 25th edition of the Insurance Department Resources Report (IDRR) – include:
- In 2011, there were 6,296 domestic U.S. insurers.
- California has the largest 2013 budget -- $24.6 million greater than second-place New York.
- There were more than 283,000 official complaints and 2.1 million inquiries filed with state insurance departments last year.
The first volume of the IDRR can be ordered through the NAIC website. The second volume of the IDRR will be released in August and will include information on premium volume by type and by state.
