The Toyota Corolla is the most stolen compact vehicle in the country, according to a new report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau in Des Plaines, Ill.
The report, based on National Crime Information Center statistics, focuses on thefts of model year 2010, 2011 and 2012 cars from April 3, 2009, through Dec. 31, 2012. A total of 19,759 compact and subcompact cars were stolen during the period.

5. Nissan Sentra
6. Hyundai Elantra
8. Toyota Yaris
9. Volkswagen Jetta
10. Kia Forte
The five states that reported the most compact and subcompact car thefts were California, Florida, Texas, New York and Illinois. The Los Angeles region reported the most small-car thefts of any metropolitan area, followed by New York, Miami, San Francisco and Atlanta.
