Ask the Life Insurance Expert

I am newly married and have a child who is just about 18 from a previous marriage. I have a $500,000 life insurance benefit. Any opinions on how I should distribute that benefit?

Only you can know how best to distribute financial support in the event of your death.

What I can definitely tell you is to make sure your beneficiaries know at least the name of your life insurance company, and preferably the policy number, too. We hear from folks every day who think they are beneficiaries but can’t find the policy.
