Ask the Life Insurance Expert

My boyfriend is still married and I am trying to tell him his wife would get any life insurance policy payouts even if I took one out on him.

What? No no no . . . not true. His wife only gets life insurance money if she is named on a policy as a beneficiary. A spouse does not get automatic rights to life insurance benefits.

If you buy a policy on him, you'll pick the beneficiary. Pick yourself!
