Your car goes underwater
If your car enters a lake or a river, you need to exit as soon as possible. Quickly roll down windows or open a door to escape. If you become submerged and the door will not open, allow enough water to enter through the windows to equalize the pressure, says Coyne.
Carry a sharp tool in your car for breaking windows in emergency situations, such as when power windows stop functioning. If you don't have a tool, try to kick out a side window. If you exit the car underwater and don't know which way to swim, follow bubbles to the surface.
