Although the Automobile Association of America (AAA) may be best known for its automobile insurance, AAA also offers homeowners insurance covering many types of homes and has for more than 30 years.
AAA began in 1902 when 1,000 automobile enthusiasts in Chicago became charter members of the new automobile club. They established nine motor clubs that had less than 1,500 members. Today, AAA is a not-for-profit federation of 50 motor clubs that serve more than 53 million members in the U.S. and Canada. All AAA clubs sell automobile and homeowners/renters insurance. However, not all coverage is available from all clubs.
In addition to homeowners insurance, AAA offers coverage for condominiums, townhouses, and rental properties as well as renter’s insurance.
Earthquake, flood coverage available
You can buy insurance coverage for earthquakes and floods separately from AAA Home Insurance. Costs for flood insurance through AAA varies depending on how much you buy, what it covers, and your property’s flood risk. AAA Home Insurance also offers umbrella insurance.
You are not required to be a member of AAA to receive a homeowners insurance quote. However, if you belong to AAA, you may be eligible for a discount on your policy.
If you buy multiple policies from AAA, you may be eligible for additional discounts. For example, AAA of Southern California offers discounts of up to 20 percent on home and close to 12 percent on auto when owners combine policies. Each AAA club may be different.
AAA Home Insurance also offers an extended replacement cost coverage option to homes that qualify.
