Bundling with American Family vs. buying from two different companies

See how much it costs if you have separate policies with American Family plus another carrier for either your home or auto insurance, and whether or not you’ll save if you bundle in the table below.

“Some companies may have lower auto rates and higher home rates so that the bundle discount doesn’t actually save money.  That’s where an agent comes in handy.  If they know the market they can help save money by shopping it to multiple carriers,” says Jake Jones, owner of North Wyoming Insurance, an insurance agency.

In all cases compared here, bundling both home and auto insurance gets you a lower price with American Family. However, as noted above, that doesn’t mean it’s the cheapest company overall for bundling.

Methodology

Insure.com commissioned home and auto insurance rates for major carriers from Quadrant Data Services in late 2023. Home insurance rates are based on $300,000 in dwelling and liability coverage and a $1,000 deductible. Auto insurance rates are based on a full coverage policy with 100/300/100 liability limits and $500 deductibles, using the sample profile of a 40-year-old male driving a 2023 Honda Accord LX with a clean driving record and good credit. Quadrant also provided average bundling discounts.
