Insure.com surveyed more than 4,500 insurance customers nationwide between February and August 2011 for customer satisfaction ratings and reviews. The survey was not open to the general public. Consumers answered questions about their levels of satisfaction with their insurers, and each answer was assigned a point value. Points were then averaged and totaled for each company. The written customer reviews did not impact scores.
We collected data for 20 large companies by market share in each category (19 in health), so not all large companies are represented in the study. The companies for which we collected data were then ranked. The top three companies in each category earned Insure.com’s “People’s Choice Award.”

- Considering my age, the premiums I pay monthly are fair in my opinion. I don't have much experience with the "customer service" part of ING since the only interaction I have had with them to date is when I worked with their agent to purchase and set up this policy. I would have no problem recommending ING to another person. ING would not insure my husband, who has asymptomatic coronary artery disease for any reasonable amount. But this was also true for two other companies I tried to get him insured with. - Florida
- It was easy to sign-up, but I don't hear anything from them now that they are getting my money. - North Carolina
- The people and level of customer service are great. Prices are just "ok" so I would not go out of my way to recommend based on this. - Tennessee
- Great price and customer service! - Washington
- I do not like the company or the service I receive. - California
- I don't deal with them very often, but when I have, it's been ok. Not bad, but not memorable as being great. - California
- They are too expensive. As for customer service, once policy was purchased I've never dealt with them again. - Texas
- While I would like to pay less, I realize the price is right. I never hear from my agent. - New Hampshire
