ING, now Voya Financial, was founded in 1991 by a merger between Nationale-Nederlanden and NMB Postbank Group. During the past 15 years ING has become a multinational corporation with very diverse international activities. Since 1991, ING has developed from a Dutch company with some international business to a multinational business with Dutch roots. This was achieved through a mixture of organic growth, such as the creation of ING Direct, as well as various large acquisitions.
Voya Financial offers three kinds of life insurance: term life, universal life and variable universal life. Term life insurance is the cheapest type of life insurance. It provides protection for temporary needs such as mortgage and college. Term life may be a good choice for young families and individuals. Universal life insurance is a permanent type of insurance that offers flexible premium payments, guaranteed death benefit protection on some policies, a potential savings feature from which loans and/or withdrawals can be taken, a tax-advantaged cash value accumulation potential, and tax-free death benefit. Variable universal life insurance is another type of permanent life insurance that offers flexible premium payments, access to sub accounts offering the potential for greater cash accumulation but also the potential for greater market risk, versatility in death-benefit protection options, and tax-deferred cash value accumulation potential.
